Shell Oil has established a Center of Excellence program in Cardiology for their employees and retirees* with their dependents over the age of 18, who have United Healthcare HSM as their insurance. The program covers 100% of the costs for screening, care and treatment for cardiac diagnoses as ordered by our Shell CVCP doctors. Inpatient care must be done at St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital in the Texas Medical Center with our CVCP Shell doctor as the attending physician. Who is Eligible for the Program? - Shell employee, retirees* and dependents - United Healthcare HSM Insurance *Medicare eligible members are excluded from this program. How Does the Program Work? If you use one of the Shell CVCP list of cardiologists and cardiovascular surgeons* in conjunction with St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital for any inpatient care, then Shell pays for your cardiac care at 100%. *Do not choose a CV surgeon for your screening unless you are in need of screening for cardiac surgery....

We pride ourselves in customer service with quick responses to your questions. Our staff takes the time to help you get the answers to quickly so you can resume your normal working routine. Our contact numbers are all direct phone numbers so you can speak with us personally without the need of an operator.

CVCP offers individualized customer service. Orientations and refresher orientations are provided to provider offices by appointment. CVCP also offers an on-site orientation where the provider office staff get an opportunity to tour and meet with CVCP staff in our four key departments, Pre-certification, Billing, Collections and Finance. During the tour, each of the four departments are described and viewed up close. Questions are encouraged. The tour lasts about 2 hours.

In addition to our orientations, provider offices are updated with CVCP operations news by:

CVCP Newsflash - a monthly bulletin directed towards office managers and their support staff.

CVCP Provider Relations Updates - email and fax updates for last-minute changes in operations, policies and legislation affecting our provider offices.

All Provider Meetings - These are luncheon meetings where office managers and their support staff come together to network and see presentations on issues in healthcare sponsored by CVCP.

CVCP MD Newsletter - a bi-annual newsletter that is directed towards physicians and office managers apprising them of utilization and quality management issues in the network.

CardioVascular Care Providers, Inc., (CVCP) founded by world-renowned heart surgeon Dr. Denton A. Cooley, has been a pioneer in the provision of the highest quality "price bundled" medical services to cardiovascular patients for over 20 years.

CVCP was formed in 1984 as a financially and clinically integrated group of physicians offering cardiovascular services under global case rates, or packaged pricing arrangements. This structure provides for shared risk among all participating physicians, and therefore acts as an incentive for network physicians to cooperate in controlling costs and improving quality by managing the provision of their services. These bundled services are made available to insurance companies, other payers and self-insured corporations.

The providers in CVCP are affiliated with the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. The network includes cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and other specialists who provide cardiovascular specific services to managed health care members.

Cardiologists Our cardiologists assess patients who are concerned about their risk for cardiac disease or who are suffering from symptoms possibly related to cardiac disease. CVCP cardiologists have received the finest training in the world. They give patients the answers they seek using state-of-the-art cardiac technology that provides accurate and concise details of their health status. Many of the tests are performed right in the office, saving patients the time from having to go elsewhere and wait for the test to be available. Services for our Providers Managed Care contracting Credentialing The appropriate credentialing of current and prospective CVCP physicians is a key component of a complete Quality Management Program. Credentialing is the systematic evaluation and verification of physician training, licensure, and experience performed to ensure the delivery of appropriate and efficient patient care by fully licensed and qualified physicians. This process is performed in compliance with the standards of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and the Department of Insurance. CVCP makes credentialing easier for providers through our delegated credentialing agreements with the payers. How Do I Make An Appointment?

It is as easy as 1-2-3. You can click on the listing of CardioVascular Care Providers, Inc. and telephone the cardiology or c-v surgical office of your choice. The offices will work with you to obtain information about your needs. During this initial telephone contact, they will secure an appointment for you and provide directions to the office if you are unfamiliar with the Texas Medical Center. If you are coming for a second opinion or if you have recently changed cardiologists, remember to obtain a copy of your medical records and any recent tests and lab tests that you may have had in the last year.
