CVCP's Cardiac Specialties include Cardiologists, EPS Specialists, and Cardiovascular Surgeons.
Cardiologists
Our cardiologists assess patients who are concerned about their risk for cardiac disease or who are suffering from symptoms possibly related to cardiac disease. CVCP cardiologists have received the finest training in the world. They give patients the answers they seek using state-of-the-art cardiac technology that provides accurate and concise details of their health status.
Many of the tests are performed right in the office, saving patients the time from having to go elsewhere and wait for the test to be available. If an invasive test, like a cardiac catheterization, is necessary, CVCP physician offices are connected to the hospitals where the doctor can perform this procedure. In addition, should an emergency arise, our cardiologists serve on staff at the hospitals and provide cardiac consultation services through the emergency room and chest pain center.
CVCP cardiologists are trained in the following procedures: PTCA, Atherectomy Stent Placement in coronary and vascular arteries, and Endovascular Stents for aneurysms.
Some of the tests available from our cardiologists include:
- Second Opinion
- Consultation
- EKG
- Echocardiogram
- Treadmill Test
- Nuclear Treadmill Test
- Tilt Test
- Cardiac Catheterization
- EPS (Electrophysiology Studies)
- High Risk Management: Congestive Heart Failure
- Cardiac Transplant management

EPS Specialists
EPS stands for electrophysiology specialist. This is a highly trained cardiologist who specializes in arrhythmias or "irregular beats" of the heart. CVCP is proud to have five EPS specialists on our panel. EP Specialists can perform the following procedures:
- Tilt test
- Electrophysiology Studies
- Biventricular Pacing
- Atrial Fibrillation Ablation
- Laser Lead Extractions of Previously Implanted Pacemakers
- Pacemaker and Defribrillator Implants
- Arrythmia Ablations
CardioVascular Surgeons
The CVCP cardiovascular surgeons are world renowned for their advances in surgery of the heart. Many of the advances accredited to cardiac surgery and cardiac transplants across the world can be linked back to Dr. Denton A. Cooley and his founding of the Texas Heart Institute (THI) in 1962.
THI was created to study and treat diseases of the heart and vascular system. The successful cardiovascular surgery record of the physicians affiliated with THI and its advances in the medical management of cardiovascular diseased are unequaled. This extraordinary success has attracted both patients and staff from around the world. Patients experience less time in the hospital, sustain excellent outcomes and return to the quality of life they are used to.
Documented studies indicate that institutions that perform more volume of open heart surgeries produce the best outcomes. No other institution like THI has as much experience in performing open heart surgeries. In fact, many patients seek these surgeons for their family members because they only want the best of the best.
Here are some of the surgical procedures performed:
Aneurysm Repair
- Valve Replacements
- Coronary Artery Bypass
- Other Vascular Arterial Bypass Surgeries
- Endarterectomies
- Left Ventricular Assist Device Implantations
- Maze Procedure
- Cardiac Transplantation
