CardioVascular Care Providers, Inc., (CVCP) founded by world-renowned heart surgeon Dr. Denton A. Cooley, has been a pioneer in the provision of the highest quality "price bundled" medical services to cardiovascular patients for over 20 years.
CVCP was formed in 1984 as a financially and clinically integrated group of physicians offering cardiovascular services under global case rates, or packaged pricing arrangements. This structure provides for shared risk among all participating physicians, and therefore acts as an incentive for network physicians to cooperate in controlling costs and improving quality by managing the provision of their services. These bundled services are made available to insurance companies, other payers and self-insured corporations.
The providers in CVCP are affiliated with the Texas Heart Institute at St. Luke's Episcopal Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Houston, TX. The network includes cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons and other specialists who provide cardiovascular specific services to managed health care members.
CVCP's Guiding Principle
In Dr. Cooley's words, the guiding principle of CardioVascular Care Providers, Inc. remains unchanged since 1984: "To make the highest quality cardiovascular services more accessible and affordable."
This is accomplished through financial and clinical integration of the providers, incorporating the concepts of bundled services, shared risk, and single payment for professional services.
